Lady Cats Wrap up Play in Gulf Shores
GULF SHORES, ALA. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats wrapped up play in the Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulf Shores, Alabama Sunday.
The Cats met Thomas University in their morning game.
Maria Murdaugh got the Lady Cats off to a good start. Murdaugh's lead-off homer gave Bethel a 1-0 lead.
Thomas loaded the bases in the bottom of the third, but Lauren Reimsnyder got out of the inning with a double play ball.
The Night Hawks however took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. That score stood up as Thomas won 2-1.
The Murdaugh homer was the only hit of the game for the Wildcats. Thomas had seven hits in the game. Both teams had one error.
Kinsley Caruthers suffered the Bethel loss.
In game two Bethel fell to William Carey. WCU scored five runs in the first and outhit the Cats 13-4 enroute to a 10-1 victory. Kaylie McKinley was charged with the loss. Madison Carey had the lone RBI for Bethel.
With the four losses in the tournament, Bethel dropped to 3-5 on the season.
The Lady Cats return home to host William Woods Friday in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
