MSC Softball Honors Announced
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -The Mid-South Conference announced the 2023 Softball All-Conference teams and individual honors on Wednesday.
Bethel's Maria Murdaugh was named to the first team. Kennedy Gillespie was named to the second team. Alexis Wheeler and Jezabelle Quintana were named to the honorable mention squad.
Cumberlands' (Ky.) Makenzie Keatts was named the MSC Player of the Year while teammate Talli Burgess earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Cumberland's (Tenn.) Anna Lay was named the Freshman of the Year.
Cumberlands' Bailey Dillender was voted the MSC Coach of the Year while Alyssa Richards earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
Entering postseason play, Murdaugh leads Bethel with a .405 batting average and 49 hits. Gillespie has 48 hits and is hitting .356. Gillespie leads the squad in doubles with 15. Wheeler is hitting .371 and leads the team with five home runs. Wheeler leads the Cats in runs driven in with 35. Wheeler and Amber Osborne are tied with 13 stolen bases. Quintana has five victories on the season.
