Softball Loses Series Finale to UTS
MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats fell Sunday afternoon in the last of their three-game set versus UT Southern, falling 4-3 to the FireHawks.
Kinsley Caruthers put Bethel ahead in the second with an RBI single. Kirsten Eversole extended the Wildcat lead to 2-0 with a third inning single.
UTS put together three hits which resulted in a three run fifth inning.
Eversole struck again in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly to knot the game at 3-3 after five.
The FireHawks took the lead with a run in the top of the sixth. The run proved to be the game winner.
Bethel outhit UTS 12-8. Kennedy Gillespie led Bethel with three hits and two runs scored.
Jezabelle Quintana suffered the loss while Stella Gilbreath picked up the Hawk win.
The Wildcats fell to 21-18 overall and 11-10 in the Mid-South Conference.
UT Southern improved to 14-27 and 4-18.
The Cats close out their regular season Friday and Saturday at home hosting the University of the Cumberlands. The teams will play a single game Friday and a doubleheader at noon Saturday. Senior Day ceremonies will take place between the games on Saturday.
