Softball Drops Twin Bill to Tennessee Wesleyan
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Lady Wildcats dropped both games of their season opening doubleheader Saturday at Lady Wildcat Park. The Cats fell to No.9 Tennessee Wesleyan 7-1 and 15-2.
TWU moved to 3-1 on the season.
In game one, TWU outhit Bethel 12-2. TWU's Cheyenne Strong, a returning NAIA All-American recorded 10 strikeouts.
Kennedy Gillespie drove in Bethel's lone run. Another bright note for Bethel was a record for walks in a game. Maria Murdaugh walked four times setting a new program record. Jezabelle Quintana suffered the Wildcat loss.
Game two saw TWU score nine first inning runs enroute to the 15-2 victory. The visitors outhit Bethel 17-4. Gillespie and Kinsley Caruthers had RBI's for the Lady Wildcats. Maddie Locke was charged with the loss. Baylie Davis was the winner for TWU.
Bethel jumps back into action Tuesday at 1 p.m. hosting Brescia.
