Cats Fall to UT Southern in Quarterfinals of MSC Championship

ANOTHER GAME TIME CHANGE FOR FRIDAY- Cats Play at 7 p.m 

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcat softball squad and UT-Southern kicked off Mid-South Conference Quarterfinal action at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky Thursday morning. The FireHawks entered the action as the No. 4 seed while the Wildcats faced their old rivals as the No. 5 seed.

UTS grabbed a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and third innings.

The Cats cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth. Alexa Thrasher singled in Madison White to cut the score to 2-1.

The Hawks bounced back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. The big blow was a three-run homer by Samantha King with UTS taking a 6-1 after five innings.

UT Southern scored a single run in the sixth to lead and then eventually win 7-1.

Madison Haught was charged with the loss. King went the distance for the UTS win.

UTS outhit the Wildcats 8-6. Bethel committed three errors in the game.  

Bethel fell to 22-27 while UTS moved to 26-23.

The Cats will play Friday night at 7 p.m. in an elimination game. Bethel will face the loser of the Lindsey Wilson/Campbellsville game which is being played Friday at 4 p.m.
