Softball Sweeps DH over Georgetown

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Bethel and Georgetown concluded their four-game series at Lady Wildcat Park in McKenzie Friday. The teams split their games Thursday with both teams winning one run decisions.

Bethel swept the Tigers Friday winning both games, 5-4 and 3-1.   

In game one Georgetown jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first. The Wildcats answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.  Maria Murdaugh hit a two-run homer. It was her first collegiate dinger. Later in the inning Madison White and Alexis Wheeler scored on an error by the Tigers.  The Tigers scored a single run in the second to make it 4-3.  Bethel's White had an RBI in the third to give the Cats a 5-3 lead.  GC scored a single run in the fifth to pull to within 5-4.  The Cats outhit the Tigers 8-5. Kalani Kuroda picked up the win going 5.2 innings allowing just three hits.

It was the Melanie Alexander and Madison Locke show in game two. Alexander hit two homers while Locke pitched a complete game two-hitter in the snowy nightcap. Bethel outhit the visitors from Kentucky 7-2.  

Bethel finished the day at 13-7 overall and 7 -1 in the MSC. Georgetown is 9-13 and 4-8.  

Bethel hits the road to play 12 straight road games. Eight of those are conference games. 

The Cats begin the road trip at Campbellsville Tuesday playing a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
