Lady Wildcats Sweep No. 2 Lindsey Wilson

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – After dropping their doubleheader to Lindsey Wilson Friday, the Bethel Lady Wildcats played host to the No.2 Blue Raiders again in a twin bill Saturday at the Kahlden Complex. It was Senior Day with Billie Douglas, Maddie Cochran. Lexee Miller, Darcie Gibson and Macey Cox being honored between games. The seniors enjoyed the day with two big wins in a sweep of the highly rated Raiders. Bethel won 9-0 and 1-0.

In game one the Lady Cats received an early lift from leftfielder Morgan Hunt who made a spectacular diving catch to get Bethel out of tight jam in the second as LWC had the bases loaded with two outs. In the bottom of the inning Leah Hayes drove in a run with an RBI single. In the bottom of the third Bethel extended their lead to 6-0 scoring five runs in the inning. Maddie Cochran had a two run single which was followed by another Hayes RBI single. Kayla Reed knocked in two more runs with a double to left. The Lady Wildcats exploded for four runs in the fourth. Maddie Cochran drove in a run with a single. Brittany Minor and Reed also drove in single runs. Bethel had 12 hits in the game. Cochran went the distance in the five inning run rule affair allowing just five hits. Breanna Clark suffered the Raider loss. The nine runs were the second most allowed by LWC on the season.

Game two followed Friday's theme of being another pitcher's duel. Bethel's Darcie Gibson and Billie Douglas held the Blue Raiders to just one hit. LWC's Annabelle Ramirez allowed just two hits. The lone run came in the bottom of the sixth when Kayla Gillespie doubled and would later score on a Lindsey Wilson throwing error. Douglas picked up the win while Ramirez suffered only her third loss of the year. The sweep marked the first time on the season LWC has lost two straight games. Prior to the two scoreless games Lindsey had only been shutout one time all season.

Bethel improved to 22-12 overall and 16-12 in the MSC. Lindsey fell to 35-5 and 27-5.
