Swim Cats Fare Well in Quad Meet
SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Bethel University Swim Team participated in a quad meet on Saturday in Sewanee, Tennessee. Other teams competing included Brenau University, Midway University, and Sewanee, University of the South.
For the men, Akram Nejjar swam back to back in the 1000 Free and 200 Free winning both events, Jakub Loboda took 1st in the 50 Free and 100 Fly, Artem Dzun took 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 100 Fly, Martin Sener was 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 100 Backstroke, Eric Edwards took 1st in the 100 Free, and 2nd in the 100 Breast, Eric Lane was 3rd in the 50 Free, 5th in the 100 Free, and 7th in the 100 Back, and Adam Peeden finished 4th in the 100 Free and 5th in the 100 Back. The men's relay teams finished 1st in both the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Dzun, Sener, Edwards, Loboda) and the 200 Medley Relay (Sener, Dzun, Loboda, and Edwards).
On the women's side Clara Bjorkegren was 3rd in the 500 Free and 2nd in the 200 Free, Fanni Kovacs took 9th in the 100 Free and 50 Free, Sofia Nascimento Tricoli finished 10th in the 50 Free and 7th in the 100 Back, and Tania Ranero was 10th in the 100 Back and 7th in the 100 Free. The women's relay team finished 4th in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Ranero, Tricoli, Kovacs, Bjorkegren), and 3rd in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (Ranero, Tricoli, Kovacs, Bjorkegren).
Coach Kirsten Sass commented, "This meet was a final test before our conference championships coming up Feb 1 - 3. It helped determine where we are, and what needs some more sharpening over the next few weeks. The team displayed great effort, especially so soon after returning from break."
