Soccer Cats Upend LSU-A
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats remained unbeaten on the year with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Generals of LSU-Alexandria Saturday morning. The Cats moved to 4-0-1 while LSU-A dropped to 2-2-0.
The match was the third meeting between the two programs with Bethel leading the series 3-0.
Bethel's Horace Avila Jr. scored on an assist from Goffin Oyirworth ten minutes into the match to give the Wildcats a 1-nil margin.
Oyirworth put the Wildcats up 2-nil at the 23:17 mark. Stanley Isaac was credited with the assist.
The teams retired at the half with Bethel leading by that same score.
The Generals rallied to tie the game with two scoring efforts by Adam Sherwood and Javier Moscardo in the 55th minute of the second half. The goals were twenty seconds apart.
The Wildcats retook the lead at the 26:20 mark on a shot by Stanley Isaac. Oyirworth was credited with the assist.
Bethel had a 16-12 margin in total shots. The Cats had a 7- 5 advantage in shots on goal.
Diego Camargo recorded three saves for the Wildcats.
Bethel returns to action remaining at home to host Brewton-Parker at 7 p.m. Thursday night in Walter Butler Stadium.
