Cats Host Phoenix Thursday in Crisp Arena

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats look to get back on track hosting another MSC opponent Cumberland University Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Cats have lost four straight and are 16-7 overall and 2-5 in the league.
The Cats are 9-3 at home on the year and 166-62 all-time in Crisp Arena since the building opened in 2012.
It will be the 33rd meeting between the two programs with Cumberland holding a 24-8 advantage in the series. Bethel has won three of the last five games played between the two. Cumberland has a 10-8 margin in games played in McKenzie.
CU is 8-12 overall and 1-5 in the league. The Phoenix have dropped 11 of their last 12 games. The Phoenix took No.2 Freed-Hardeman to the wire Monday before FHU pulled away late to win. Cumberland is 2-7 in road action this year.
The Cats average 79.2 and yield 75.3 points per outing. Chauncey Hughes III leads Bethel in scoring at 15.8 points per game. D J Starr is second in scoring at 11.3 while Ethan Turner averages 10 points per game.
Coach Jeff Britt is in his 37th year as a head coach and has a career mark of 553-395.
The Phoenix average 77.5 and yields 78.0 points per game. Triston Conger leads CU by scoring 17.8 points per game. He is one of three players that average in double figures for CU.
Eric Evans II is in his third year at CU and is 28-49 at the school.
The teams meet again February 21st in Lebanon.
