Cats & Tigers Set to Meet Thursday in Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats travel to Campbellsville, Kentucky Thursday to meet the Campbellsville Tigers. Tip-off in the Powell Athletic Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Wildcats are 15-3 overall and 1-1 in MSC play. The Cats are 3-0 in road action this year.

The Tigers are 14-3 and 0-1 in the league. Campbellsville is 5-2 at home this season.

It will be the 15th meeting between the two programs. Campbellsville holds an 8-6 advantage in the series which began in 1966. The Cats are 1-4 in games played in Campbellsville. The teams have split the last ten games played between the two.

Chauncey Hughes III leads the Wildcats in scoring averaging 16.5 points per game. The senior also leads the squad in steals, and free throws attempted and made. Hughes also leads his team in three-point attempts and treys made. Hughes and Jackson Hayes are tied in assists with 45 each. D J Starr averages 10.6 points per outing. Ethan Turner averages 9.9 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with seven boards per game.

The Wildcats average 81.2 and yield 71.3 points per game. The Cats shoot 43 percent from the floor while their opponents shoot 40 percent from the field. Bethel shoots 33 percent behind the arc while opponents average 29 percent from long distance. The Wildcats average 68 percent from the free throw line. The Cats outrebound their opponents 43-34.

Coach Jeff Britt is in his 26th year as head coach at Bethel and 37th overall in his career. He is 10th among active coaches with a mark of 552-391.

The Tigers average 77.1 and yield 66.4 points per game. They shoot 45 percent from the field while their opponents shoot 41 percent. CU averages 35 percent from long distance while opponents shoot 28 percent behind the arc. The Tigers average 73 percent from the free throw line. CU and their foes each average 33 rebounds per game.

Dalton Kramer leads the Tigers with a 14.8 average per outing. He also leads his team in steals, assists, three pointers made and free throw attempts and free throws made. Jay Milburn is second in scoring, popping in 10.9 points per game. He leads the Tigers in total rebounds with 91. Five different Tigers average nine points or more for Coach Brent Vernon.

Coach Vernon is in his 10th season with the Tigers and is 145-116.
