Tough Second Half Cost Cats at UTS
PULASKI, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats and the UT Southern Firehawks met for the 37th time Thursday in Pulaski. Going into the game, UTS had 24-12 advantage in the series. The Cats had beaten the Hawks 77-74 on December 14th in McKenzie.
The Firehawks turned the tables Thursday, beating the Wildcats 93-75. Bethel led 48-42 at the half but UTS outscored the Wildcats 51-27 in the second half.
The Hawks shot 54 percent from the floor. UTS hit nine three-pointers and were 24-of-31 from the free throw line. The Wildcats shot 48 percent from the field and hit five treys. They were 14-of-25 from the line. Bethel committed 24 turnovers in the game.
Ethan Turner led Bethel with 16 points. Daveonne Warfield and Kendan Maddox followed with 12 points each.
Zaiden Cross had a game high 23 points for UTS.
Bethel fell to 11-3 while UTS moved to 4-8.
The Wildcats are back in action Monday at home facing another longtime rival in Blue Mountain. The tip-off at Crisp Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 135-55 all-time in the arena which opened in 2012.
