Cats Fall to Bearcats in Owensboro

OWENSBORO. Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats dropped to 8-2 Thursday with an 93-81 loss at Brescia in Owensboro. The Bearcats improved to 2-5 on the year.

The loss snapped Bethel's four-game win streak while Brescia snapped a four-game losing skid.

The Wildcats led 43-40 at the half but were outscored 53-38 in the second half.

The Wildcats shot 43 percent from the floor and hit seven three-pointers but struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 10-of-22 attempts. The Bearcats shot 59 percent from the field and hit nine three-pointers. Brescia hit 18-of -24 free throw attempts. Bethel had a 41-33 advantage in rebounding.

Ethan Turner led the Wildcats with 17 points. Joe Wimberly had 13 points while Tyler Neely had 10 tallies.

Damian Garcia had a game high 32 points for Brescia.

The Wildcats return home for a game against UT- Southern at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Wildcats are 133-55 all-time in Crisp Arena which opened in 2012.

UT-Southern is 3-6 on the season.

It will be the 36th meeting between the two programs dating back when UTS was Martin Methodist. The Firehawks have won four of the last five meetings.
