Wildcats Return to Action with Win at Welch College
GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats returned to the hardwood for the first time in two weeks traveling to Welch College Monday night.
After trailing 43-37 at the half the Wildcats outscored the home team 67-35 in the second half to win 104-78.
The Cats shot a blistering 61 percent from the floor. Bethel had a 45-22 advantage in rebounding and had 29 assists in the win. The Wildcats had a 56-10 margin in bench points.
Six Bethel players scored in double figures. DJ Starr led the scoring with 16 points. Trevor Chatman followed with 13 points. Daveonne Warfield, Joe Wimberly and Jackson Hayes finished with 11 points each. Brayden Nunnally scored 10 points. Nine Wildcats scored eight points or more.
Welch's Zaimes Hall had a game high 33 points.
Bethel moved to 8-1 while Welch 1-10.
The game marked the first of three games Bethel will play on the week. The Cats travel to Brescia Thursday and host UT Southern Saturday in Crisp.
