Cats Remain Unbeaten with Win over IU-Columbus
MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats ran their early season record to 3-0 with another convincing victory Saturday in the Chick- fil-A Classic. After beating Southeastern Baptist 109-58 Friday, the Wildcats thumped Indian University-Columbus 103-69 in the final game of the two-day classic.
For the second game in a row, the Cats bench made a huge difference. The Wildcats had a 75-14 advantage in bench points. The Cats had 73 bench points in the Southeastern win.
The Cats shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half and led 50-35 at the break. The Wildcats shot 67 percent in the second half. The Wildcats knocked down 11 three-pointers on 22 attempts. Domination on boards was a factor as the Cats had a 41-15 margin in rebounds.
For the second straight outing, the Cats had 17 different players score. Brayden Nunnally came off the bench to lead Bethel with 15 points. Davonne Warfield followed with 11 points. Ethan Turner 10 points and seven rebounds. Nunnally and Chauncey Hughes III were named to the classic all-tournament team.
Ben Silva led IU-Columbus with a game high 20 points.
Coach Jeff Britt commented, "We are pleased with another win. We had a lot of guys step with major contributions. The bench played a big part in the win. We will enjoy this one and get ready for a tough week coming up".
