Cats Beat Arkansas Baptist in Johnnie Armstrong Classic

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Bethel Wildcats faced Arkansas Baptist in the Johnnie Armstrong Classic at Blue Mountain Christian Saturday.

The Cats had a 35-34 lead at the half and outscored Arkansas Baptist 50-34 in the second half to win 85-68.

 The Wildcats shot 59 percent from the floor in the second half and finished at 50 percent for the game.

Bethel had a 37-34 rebound advantage and forced Arkansas Baptist into 17 turnovers. The Cats had a 26-9 margin in bench points.

Querrion Gadison led the Wildcats with 26 points. Connor Guthrie was solid with 15 points and seven rebounds. Kendan Maddox was a   force with 12 points and seven boards. Ethan Turner contributed with 10 points.

Jabez Sims led Arkansas Baptist with a game high 30 points.

The Wildcats improved to 8-5 while ABC fell to 3-8.

Coach Jeff Britt was pleased with the effort and result. "It was good to see our group play hard today. Arkansas Baptist is very athletic and quick off the dribble. ABC can score and are coached very well. We look forward to our exhibition game on Tuesday at Tennessee Tech University."  

Tip-off is at 6 p.m. in Cookeville.
