Cats Begin Second Half of Season with Conference Road Games

GEORGETOWN, Ky.- The Bethel Wildcats begin the second portion of their regular season with two road games Thursday and Saturday traveling to Georgetown, Kentucky and Williamsburg, Kentucky. The Cats meet the 15th ranked Tigers Thursday at 6:30 CST. They complete the road trip with a game versus the University of the Cumberlands Saturday in Williamsburg.

Bethel is 8-6 and 4-5 on the year. The Cats are 3-2 at home and 3-3 on the road. Bethel is 2-1 in neutral site games. Bethel is coming off an 84-81 home loss to No. 2 Thomas More just before the Christmas break. The Cats are 117-46 all-time in Crisp Arena.

Georgetown has won five in a row and eight of their last nine. The Tigers are 13-2 and 7-2. GC has won eight of their nine home games on the season.

It will be the 12th meeting between the two programs with Georgetown holding an 8-3 margin in the series. The last meeting saw GC win 80-62 last year in Crisp Arena.

The Wildcats are averaging 72.9 and yielding 71.8 points per outing. Bethel is shooting 48 percent from the floor and 27 percent in three-point attempts. The Cats shoot 64 percent from the foul line. Bethel is outrebounding their opponents 36-28 per game. The Wildcats are averaging 12 assists and 16 turnovers per game.

Querrion Gadson leads Bethel is scoring at 10.7 per game. Five other players average seven or more points per game.

Coach Jeff Britt is 10th among active coaches in the NAIA with 501 wins. He is 501-353. Britt is in his 23rd year at Bethel and has 393 of those victories as head coach of the Wildcats.

 Georgetown is averaging 76.7 and yielding 61.2 points per game. The Tigers are shooting 47 percent from the floor and knocking down 34 percent of their three-point attempts. GC shoots 69 percent from the foul line. The Tigers are outrebounding their opponents 39-31 per contest. GC averages 14 assists and 10 turnovers per game.

Eight Tigers average eight points or more per game. Three of those players average ten or more points per outing. Cam Brooks-Harris leads the squad averaging 12.9 points per game.

Chris Briggs is in his 12th season as head coach of the Tigers. He is 303-79 at the school. Briggs has led the Tigers to nine national tournament appearances and two national titles.  The Tigers have captured seven MSC titles under Briggs. GC is 186-21 at home under Briggs.

The two squads meet again January 28 in Crisp Arena.
