Second Half Surge allows Cats to Trim Oaks

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. –The Bethel Wildcats returned to their winning ways Tuesday with an 70-58 win at Oakland City.

 The Wildcats had dropped two straight conference road affairs before the non-conference victory over the Mighty Oaks. With the win, the Wildcats moved to 6-3 while OCU dropped their seventh straight and fell to 1-10. The Cats beat the Oaks 74-62 in November in McKenzie.

Bethel trailed 28-26 at the half but outscored the Oaks 44-30 in the second half to win. The Cats shot 50 percent in the game and had a 35-27 advantage in rebounds.

Drew Thomas led Bethel with 18 points. Kamron Rose tossed in 14 points while Jamarius Mayberry followed with 11 tallies. Rose had a team eight rebounds. Jamarcus Clark led the Oaks with 16 points and ten rebounds.  

Coach Jeff Britt moved closer to win # 500. With the victory, Britt has now won 487 games in his career. Three hundred and eight one of those have been at Bethel.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend at Blue Mountain College playing two games in the Johnnie Armstrong Classic. They meet Mississippi University for Women Friday at 5:30 p.m. and then face Southeastern Baptist Saturday at noon.
