Several Wildcats Earn Postseason Football Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference announced its 2024 Football All-MSC teams and honors on Thursday.
Georgetown's (Ky.) Darius Neal was named the MSC Football Craig Mullins Offensive Player of the Year Award recipient. Teammate Chad Holleran earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year. Cumberland's (Tenn.) Jacob Cornejo was selected as Offensive Freshman of the Year. Bethel's (Tenn.) Duston Chavis was chosen as Defensive Freshman of the Year. Finally, Cumberland (Tenn.) swept coaches' honors, as Tim Mathis was selected for the Ron Finley Award for Coach of the Year. Mathis's assistant, Bobby Brown, earns the Assistant Coach of the Year.  
Chavis played the whole season for the Wildcats on the defensive line as a freshman. The Tennessee native totaled eight solo tackles on the season while assisting on 21 tackles. Totaling 29 tackles the freshman would average 2.9 tackles a game, his best game coming against Cumberland (Tenn.) where he had eight tackles that game. Finally, the freshman would have three sacks on the season to total 16 yards lost against opponents. 

Thirty players were selected to both the first and second all-conference teams.

Along with Chavis being named the Defensive Freshman of the Year, Bethel placed four players on the first team and two on the second team.

Bethel's Jaden Taylor (OL), Brody Franks (LB), Jacious Clark (DB), and Brayden Johnson (P) were 1st team selections. Chavis and Darrien Lewis (LB) were 2nd team selections.
