Coach Daniels Promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Coach Michael Jasper announced Wednesday that M D Daniels has been promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator.
Daniels enters his second season at Bethel University after serving as the Pass Game Coordinator / Wide Receiver Coach for the Wildcats last year. Coach Daniels previously served as the Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Iowa Wesleyan University for two seasons in which he finished the 2022 season with the most wins in a single season in the last decade. Coach Daniels also received national recognition by being accepted into the AFCA 35 under 35 class which features the top rising coaches under the age of 35. During the two seasons at Iowa Wesleyan University, Daniels coached one NAIA All American and 12 All Conference Selections. Coach Daniels defense boasted one of the best defenses in school history while breaking four school records. Over his two years as Head Coach, Coach Daniels Offense and Defense finished with a top 20 ranking in overeight different categories in the NAIA.
In 2019, Coach Daniels served as the Defensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator for IW for the fall season. During his time, he built the defense up to be ranked number one in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) in both blocked kicks and fumbles forced and number two in total tackles for loss. The Tiger defense was ranked #26 nationally in Total Defense.
Prior to becoming a part of Iowa Wesleyan, Daniels spent five years at McMurry University in which the War Hawks competed two years at the Division II level and three years at the Division III level. Daniels has coached three first Team All-NCCAA All-Americans; Desmond Guy (2013), Marlon Jackson (2015), and Chase Franklin (2015). Coach Daniels also coached one second Team All-ASC (American Southwest Conference) player, an ASC Defensive Freshman of the Year, two All-ASC players, and one ASC Newcomer of the Year. He was also a part of McMurry's defense that finished number two in the ASC in total defense (2015), rush defense (2015) and pass defense (2014). He also contributed to finishing number one in the nation in defensive touchdowns in 2016. A native of Lake Jackson, Texas, Daniels is a 2013 graduate of McMurry University in
Texas where he obtained a bachelor's degree in math education. Coach Daniels resides in McKenzie, TN with his wife Chyna and daughter Riley.
