Busy Week for Bethel’s Esports Squad

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –It was a busy week for the Bethel Esports team.

The Valorant team lost the best of three series Monday night to a very good Trent White team.

The Wildcats came out strong but fell in the first game 13-7. The second game found the Cats unable to find their mojo as they lost 13-1.

The Bethel SSBU lost a heartbreaker Tuesday night versus a very good Murray State team. Coach Matthew Ellis said, "We had great scout for this week but, we could not find the best counters for their characters. We competed well and gave a little different look to see how it would work."

Bethel's Rocket League bounced back huge Friday with a huge win over D1 Louisville. The Cats edged the Cards in a best of five series, 3-1.

Coach Ellis spoke about Jaxson Favre. "Favre has been competing in the LevelNext Madden Championship. This is one of the biggest tournaments for him this year. He has competed well; he started out pool games not doing the best and earned an eight seed. He then competed and upset the number one seed and number four seed in his conference tournament. He earned a spot in the conference championship and had a shot for a National Championship berth. He lost ultimately and fell in the Last Chance Qualifier where he will now need a big win to make it to the National Championship."

Coach Ellis summed up his thoughts. " I am beyond proud of all these teams and how they have improved since the day we started. I have had individual talks with all team members that have competed and told them how crucial it is to buy into what we have. The teams have taken any wisdom I have offered and ran with it to get better than they were the week before. I want to throw a few roses to some people that have stood out to me on all these teams. Favre competed and competed to get his way to the conference championship. I'm proud of how he has done over the past couple of weeks, making his way into a top-notch collegiate Madden tournament. Another team member I want to point out is Connor Cox. He has played tremendous for our Valorant team and has helped them gradually get better. One of the notable things we changed up was our scheme for the Rocket league and that gave him an opportunity to jump in and score four goals this week and helped lead us to our first win of our season."
