Wildcats Return Favor to St. Ambrose

 MCKENZIE, Tenn. — The Bethel Wildcats dropped a doubleheader to the visiting St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Friday. Bethel had dropped eight of their last nine outings prior to Saturday's twin bill against the Bees.

Game One: Dominant Pitching on Display Leads Cats to Win

The Cats, behind a sterling pitching performance from Zachary Zimmer and one big inning on offense turned the tables on St. Ambrose with a 3-0 victory. Zimmer allowed just one hit and one walk through six innings. The senior Canadien struck out for five Bees.

Juan Diego Ramos drove in what proved to be the winning run in the fifth. Garrett Taylor slugged a two-run homer later in the inning.

Klayton Wright pitched a scoreless seventh inning to secure the Wildcat victory.

Game Two: Bats Decide Outcome

The Bees scored two runs in the first and second innings to grab an early 4-0 lead.

The Bat Cats scored two runs in the third on a Ramos sacrifice RBI fly and a Zayden McCaslin RBI triple.

The Cats exploded for five runs in the fourth to take a 7-5 lead. Kaidan Ingram started the rally with an RBI single. CJ Lattimore followed with a two-run homer. McCaslin and Cade Pilkinton had RBI doubles.

St. Ambrose cut it to 7-5 on a homer by Matthew McBrien in the top of the fifth.

 The Cats answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Taylor had a sacrifice RBI fly-out. Pilkinton drove in two runs with another double.

The Bees fought back with four runs in the sixth and cut Bethel's lead to 10-9.

Quinn Flanagan delivered a two-out RBI single for the Bees in the seventh to tie the game at 10-10.

Ramos walked to begin the bottom of the inning. He advanced to second on a Taylor sacrifice. Ramos scored the winning run on an error by the Bees.

St. Ambrose outhit Bethel 14-11 but fell to 5-7. Bethel improved to 4-8 with the 11-10 win.

The Cats hit the road on Tuesday traveling to Oakland City. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
