Wildcat Pitching Dominates in Sweep of Waldorf

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats moved to 11-6 on the season with two home wins Saturday in McKenzie. The Cats beat the visiting Waldorf Warriors 9-1 and 6-2. The Warriors dropped to 3-9. The Cats have won six in a row.

Pitching Dominates:

Game one saw the Cats take a 2-0 lead in the first with a C J Thomas two-run homer. Thos two runs would prove to be enough in the 9-1 victory. The Cats scored a run in the fifth and salted the game away with a six run sixth inning.

Jack Beck and Jose Olmeda each drove in two runs. Jose Diego Ramos, Adriel Vega, and Bryce Hayes drove in single runs.

The Cats outhit the visitors from Iowa 7-1.

Lucas Smith, Klayton Wright, and JJ Gray teamed up for the one-hitter. Smith allowed just one hit in five innings.

Walker Ward Pitches a Gem in Game Two:

Game two saw Bethel's Walker Ward top the sterling efforts of the game one hurlers. The Bedford, Indiana freshman native fired a no hitter to give Bethel the sweep. Ward, who was mobbed by his teammates after the last out, ran his season record to 3-0.

The only run in the game came as of a result of a six inning RBI off the bat of Adriel Vega who drove in Hayden Hixon for the game winner.

Coach Rusty Thompson was thrilled with the wins. "It is great to see Walker finish with the no-hitter. He was brilliant, allowing just one Warrior to reach on a walk. Lucas was superb in game one and it was super to see Klayton and JJ off. We have to get more consistent with our bats but all in all  it has been a great day too be a Bat Cat."

The Cats and the Warriors play another twin bill on Sunday beginning at noon.
