Cats Drop DH at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, AL – The Bethel University Wildcats suffered a tough 4-0 loss in their series opener against Faulkner University on Friday at Harrison Field. Despite a strong effort on the mound, Bethel's offense struggled to find momentum, managing just two hits in the game.

Faulkner Strikes Early

Faulkner wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning, and adding single runs in the second and third. The early offensive push proved to be too much to overcome.

Pitching Performances

Bethel's starter, Lucas Smith, took the loss after allowing four runs on 11 hits across five innings. He recorded two strikeouts and issued one walk. Klayton Wright provided solid relief, pitching a clean sixth inning while giving up only one hit and striking out one.

Faulkner's M. Ozuna dominated on the mound, pitching five shutout innings, striking out eight, and allowing just two hits. R. Romero closed the game with two innings of hitless relief, securing the shutout.

Offensive Struggles for Bethel

The Wildcats struggled at the plate, with only Jared Hall and C J Thomas managing hits. Faulkner's defense and pitching kept Bethel off the bases, limiting them to three walks and stranding five runners throughout the game.

Cats Drop Game Two to Faulkner

The Wildcats (3-3) were unable to overcome a three-run fifth inning by Faulkner (6-0), falling 3-1 at Harrison Field on Friday afternoon.

Both teams remained scoreless through four innings as starting pitchers Reece Ellison (Bethel) and Tyler Wilhite (Faulkner) kept hitters in check. Ellison held the Eagles to just three hits before running into trouble in the fifth.

Wildcats Struggle to Generate Offense

Bethel managed just four hits against Faulkner's pitching staff. Wilhite (2-0) earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings while allowing only two hits and striking out seven. Relievers M. Mayer and J. Destefano combined to close out the game, with Destefano picking up his first save of the season despite allowing Bethel's lone run in the seventh.

Looking Ahead

The Wildcats will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue their road trip against Faulkner Eagles.  Faulkner remains undefeated, improving to 6-0 on the season.
