Bat Cats Sweep FHU in DH in Henderson
HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats traveled to Henderson this weekend for a three game MSC series.
The Wildcats beat the No. 18 Lions in a pair of games Saturday. The Cats won game one 3-0 and took game two 12-8.
The Cats' aggressive base running was a huge key in game one. Adriel Vega stole third and scored on a Lion throwing error in the fourth. Vega stole home in the fifth to give Bethel a 2-0 lead. Jared Hall drove in Noah Hawkins later to give the Cats the 3-0 victory. Tyler Procter, who got the win combined with Alexis Rodriguez to hold Freed to just three hits. Bethel had five hits in the game.Rodriguez picked up the save.
In game two the Wildcats scored four runs in the second inning and five runs in the third. The Cats put single runs on the board in the sixth and eighth inning. FHU scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth and had the bases loaded when catcher Ivan Vega picked off the Lion runner at first to end the game. Hall and Jose Olmeda each drove in two runs. Hawkins and Noah Foster each drove in single runs. Paden New, Bryan Catala, Ivan Vega and Juan Diego each drove a run in. Luke Boswell picked up the Wildcat win.
Bethel moved to 21 -6 overall and 2-3 in the MSC. FHU dropped to 22-8 and 3-2.
The teams play a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
