Cats Beat Bucs

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats played host to the Christian Brothers Bucs Tuesday afternoon.

The Cats struck for four runs in the first to grab the early lead. Bethel had three doubles and a single in the inning. Jared Hall doubled and scored on a Juan Diego double. Zach Griffith doubled and drove in Diego. Noah Hawkins singled driving in Griffith. Hawkins scored later on a CBU error. 

The Bucs scored two runs in the top of the third to cut into Bethel's margin.

CBU scored three runs in the top of the fifth to grab a 5-4 lead.

Noah Foster slugged a homer to left to ty the game in the bottom of the fifth.

The Bucs took a 6-5 lead in the sixth, but the Wildcats fought back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Adriel Vega and Diego singled driving in runs to give the Wildcats a 7-6 margin.

Vega and Hall drove in single runs in the bottom of the seventh to up the Bethel advantage to 9-6.

CBU pushed across a run in the eighth to make it 9-7.

In the bottom of the eighth, Luis Aristud cushioned the Wildcats margin to 11-7 with a two-run triple. C J Thomas and Foster scored giving the Wildcats the 11-7 victory.

Bethel outhit the Bucs 17-11.

Nathan Rhodes picked up the Bethel victory.

The Wildcats improved to 19-3 while CBU fell to 10-13 on the season.

The Wildcats open up conference action Saturday and Sunday hosting the No. 8 Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
