Wildcats Remain Hot with Sweep at Martin Methodist

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats ran their winning streak to five in a row with a doubleheader sweep of Martin Methodist Thursday in Pulaski. Bethel took game one 12-1 and game two 9-3. The Wildcats have scored 55 runs in their five game win streak.

In game one Zach Crocker's single drove in two runs in the first to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Martin Methodist countered with a single run in the bottom of the inning. Colby Poston had a two-run RBI single in the third. Christian Padin added another run with an RBI single in the inning. Padin had a two - run single in the fourth. Shea Nickias also drove in a run in the inning. Gabriel Matias had an RBI double in the fifth inning. Clayton Parker drove in a run in the sixth. Crocker had a RBI double in the seventh to cap off the scoring. Bethel had 13 hits in the game. Crocker and Paden each had three RBI's. Trevor Bishop pitched a five-hitter and picked up the win.

Game two saw the Cats continue with hot bats. Poston had an RBI in the first. Randy Guevarez drove in a run in the fourth. Parker had a two-run double. Lucas Riddick had a RBI to cap off the four-run inning. In the seventh inning Matias drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Padin added icing to the onslaught with a three-run homer in the same inning. He finished with six RBI's on the day. MMC scored two runs in the seventh inning. Bethel outhit the Hawks 10-8. Brady Jones picked up the Wildcat win.

Bethel improved to 27-19 and 13-10 in the SSAC. MMC fell to 15-28-1 and 8-15.

The teams play a single game Friday to close out the regular season. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
