Cats Take Two from Williams Baptist
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats stretched their winning streak to five with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Williams Baptist Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Park. The Wildcats began play Tuesday in non-conference games at 11-8 against non-conference opponents. Bethel captured game one 3-0 and game two 3-1.
In game one Gabriel Matias slugged a two-run homer to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Lucas Riddick drove in a run in the sixth for the only other run in the game. Cody Ladner and Axle Metzger teamed up to allow the Eagles only one hit in the game. Ladner was the winner with Metzger picking up the save.
Game two saw more outstanding pitching as Austin Elrod was credited with the win. Metzger picked up another save. Zach Crocker and Randy Guevarez each had an RBI for the Wildcats.
Bethel improved to 18-12 while WBC fell to 11-19.
The Wildcats jump back into league action this weekend traveling to William Carey for a three game series Friday and Saturday.
