Drew Chance enters his first season as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive
Coordinator at Bethel University in 2025.

Chance comes to Bethel following two record-breaking seasons as Offensive
Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Illinois College, where he was named the 2024
FootballScoop NCAA Division III Coordinator of the Year and earned back-to-back
Hansen Region 5 Offensive Coordinator of the Year honors in 2023 and 2024.

In his debut season, Chance helped guide Illinois College to a historic turnaround,
improving from 5-5 to 9-1 and securing the first Midwest Conference championship in
school history, along with a berth in the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The Blueboys
boasted the second-ranked offense in the nation, averaging 559.3 yards and 47.5 points
per game, and led the country in passing offense (384 yards/game). The offense
shattered Midwest Conference records for both total points and total yards in a season.

In 2024, Illinois College reached new heights, finishing with the #1 offense in the
country in both yards per game (589.4) and points per game (55.5), while ranking #2 in
passing offense (376.4 yards/game) and #16 in rushing (213 yards/game). The
Blueboys once again broke their own MWC records for scoring and yardage.

Chance mentored two of the most decorated offensive players in NCAA Division III
history:

Destin Chance, a two-time All-American selection and 2024 Gagliardi Trophy Finalist,
led the NCAA in passing yards per game in 2023 before turning in a historic 2024
season. He led the nation in total yards per game, total touchdowns, passing yards per
game, and passing touchdowns. His 58 total touchdowns in the 2024 regular season set
a new NCAA single-season record, while his 4,036 passing yards and 50 passing
touchdowns became new Midwest Conference single-season records.

Collin Brunstein, also a two-time All-American, earned AFCA Skill Player of the Year
honors in 2023 and went on to become the most prolific receiver in NCAA history. He
led the nation in receiving yards and touchdowns in both 2023 and 2024, setting NCAA

single-season records with 2,200 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2023, and followed it up
by establishing the NCAA career record with 77 receiving touchdowns.

Across those two seasons, Chance’s offenses produced 2 All-Americans, 5 All-Region
honorees, and 13 All-Conference selections.

Chance began his coaching career at West Virginia State University, serving as the
Pass Game Coordinator while coaching the quarterback and tight end position groups.
During his tenure, Chance mentored MEC All-Conference Quarterback and HBCU
National Player of the Week, Donovan Riddick.

Chance played quarterback at Illinois College, leading the Midwest Conference in total
offense during the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons. He ranks 3rd all-time in IC history in
passing yards, completions, and total touchdowns. 

Originally from Auburn, Illinois, Chance quarterbacked Auburn High School to its first
state championship appearance in 2015.

Drew graduated from Illinois College in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Sports Management
and earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Studies from West Virginia State University in
2022
