MCKENZIE, Tenn. (Saturday, September 27, 2008) - The Bethel College men's soccer team were held close by the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University in the first half netting only one goal, but exploded in the second half for six in the 7-0 conference win. Freshman goalkeeper Chaz Dachenhaus picked up his second win and second shutout in as many starts and Gustavo Hoewell recorded a hat trick in the win.
 

The Wildcats scored early as Dawyne Smith took a pass from Armando Orozco for 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. But, Bethel was held scoreless for the remainder of the half.

Just four minutes into the second half, Fredrik Ekvall bent the ball from 18 yards out to the left of the goalkeeper on a feed from Smith. Leading 2-0, the Wildcats would score three times in a span of five minutes. In the 62nd minute Hoewell finished off a pass from Orozco. Just one minute later in the 63rd minute, Hoewell scored off his own rebound for a 4-0 lead. In the 67th minute, Orozco scored Bethel fifth goal on a penalty kick. Hoewell would then complete his hat trick in the 84th minute on an assist from Smith. Hoewell also plays on the men's tennis team in the spring. Steven Short would finish the scoring for the Wildcats in the 88th minute.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 3-4-1 overall for the year and 1-1 in TranSouth Conference play. They will be on the road in Mayfield, Ky. for another conference match-up against the #21 ranked Cougars of Mid-Continent University.
