MCKENZIE, Tenn. (Friday, September 26,2008) - The Lady Wildcats won the opening two games, lost the following two, but pulled out an important conference victory with a fifth game 15-13 win over the visiting Pipers of Lyon College (Ark.). The win puts Bethel at 4-1 in conference play, good enough for second place and 7-4 overall.
After going up 2-0, the Lady Wildcats looked to have the match in hand and after losing the next two, they regrouped to take the decisive game five. Jessica Vieira helped lead the charge. Vieira led the team with six service aces to go with eight kills, 32 total attacks, 21 digs and two solo blocks. Michele Cunha had 10 kills and 48 total attacks to lead the team and had four set assists and 17 digs. Abbey Masters led the team with 24 set assists and posted 5 kills, 19 attacks, a service ace and 19 digs. Freshman Deseray Washington added seven kills with 19 attacks, six digs a five block assists. Lisa Sellers had six kills on 25 attacks, 2 digs and two block assists.
The Lady Wildcats will be in action on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 7:00pm as they host the Lady Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College.
