"We are very fortunate to have Brooke and Amanda as student-athletes at Bethel College," said Bethel College Head Coach Larry Geraldi. "Both of these ladies are excellent students as well as outstanding softball players. We are glad to be able to add quality local players to our roster like Brooke and Amanda."
Cary is a middle infielder and can also play in the outfield. She batted .491 with six doubles her senior year. She was also a perfect 16 for 16 in stolen bases. She was named All-District four years. She also received the Lady Rockets Softball Golden Glove Award in 2008 and 2007. She was also an accomplished basketball player in high school for the Lady Rockets. She was chosen All-State and was one of the female Athletes of the Year by "On The Ball" magazine. She was All-Region her junior and senior years for basketball and all four years she was All-Distirct. She was also Clarksburg Outstanding High School Female Athlete by the Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame.
Cary also was the Beta Club Treasurer, and Honor Student all four years and represented Clarksburg at the Carroll County Youth Leadership.
Cary was recruited by several schools for softball and basketball. Jackson State Community College wanted her for softball, Mid-Continent University (Ky.), Dyersburg State Community College and Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) were interested in bringing her in for basketball.
"Brooke is an excellent baserunner, has great speed, makes good contact at the plate and is able to play several positions," said Geraldi. "Her primary position is a middle infielder but will also play in the outfield."
Renfroe was also a two sport athlete playing with Cary on the softball and basketball teams. She plays 3B and the outfield. Last season she hit .467 with twelve doubles, three triples and four home runs. Her on-base percentage was .607 and she was 15 of 15 on stolen bases. She said her best memory of high school sports was going to sub-state in basketball in 2008.
She was a member of Beta Club and earned the Student-Athlete Award of Merit.
"Amanda is a consistent power hitter who will add depth to the batting order," said Geraldi. "She plays 3B and the outfield. She will also be used this season as a designated hitter."
